Welcome to the Sexual Abuse Services Group at Harrison Pensa LLP. We’re here to help victims with programs, services and solutions that deal with the trauma and effects of sexual abuse. The life of a victim of sexual abuse is at a cross-roads. It is our hope that the Sexual Abuse Services Group can help victims find their way by providing the services and solutions essential to their well-being. It is our intent to work with victims of sexual abuse to accomplish the following: Empower victims. To help victims feel good about themselves again. To restore their dignity, pride and self-esteem by establishing a trusting, safe relationship with people who understand the betrayal and genuinely care about the individual. To have victims actively participate in the process of recovery and lead themselves through programs and services that will improve well-being. Shift the burden of guilt. Sexual abuse has been imposed on the victim. Through legal recourse the burden of guilt can be placed squarely on the perpetrators of sexual abuse. Sometimes the remedy of law is part of the road to recovery and, at times, restitution through law is required to fund the programs and services needed to help a victim ease back into society. De-stigmatize sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is difficult to talk about. But we need to not only talk about it but act, as a community, with compassion and commitment to improve the condition of victims and shine a light on this most insidious of crimes affecting our communities. It is our hope that by working to these objectives and ideals victims will find our group to be a safe haven – a comfortably secure place from which their journey of recovery can begin. |
