Law students are also encouraged to contact us with regard to the two (2) positions the firm offers for summer employment. Although we have in the past accepted applications from both first and second year students, we now limit applications to second year students.

Like articling students, summer students are given valuable exposure to a wide range of practice areas. Furthermore each has the opportunity to work with clients and attend courtroom procedures. This is more than a research position. Our summer students handle small claims court files, judgment debtor examinations, participate in real estate closings and attend on a variety of legal matters including client interviews, examinations for discovery and mediations.

The timeline and procedures for the 2010 Summer Application and Interview period have been scheduled as follows:

  • January 25 - deadline for applications

  • January 29 - interviews can be scheduled by the firms after 8 a.m.

  • February 8 to 10 - interviews can be held starting at 8 a.m. on the 8th and concluding at 5 p.m. on the 10th (special arrangements can be made prior to this time period for out-of-province students)

  • February 11 - offers can be made to students after 8 a.m.

All offers made on February 11th must be left open for acceptance by the student until 5 p.m. Any offers made after 5 p.m. must be left open for a reasonable period of time.

Please forward your application to the attention of the Student Committee, c/o David Swift. Include your curriculum vitae and copies of transcripts (undergrad and law school). You may also include in your package writing samples and letters of reference. For more information you can contact any of these members of the Student Committee.
